In the U.S., this phrase might conjure an image of conservation-minded folks voluntarily choosing a sustainable lifestyle. Recycling, “green” products, organic foods, and limited energy consumption might make us feel we are doing something positive for the environment. But what if “off the grid” is not a choice, but a desperate necessity, the only option for families with barely enough to eat…?
Part of our ministry is finding and helping folks that might live without even a roof overhead. Emergency supplies, help finding work or lodging or health care are all part of obedience to Jesus’ commandment to love one another. Christianity isn’t just going to church, but going to where the need is -- a practical, everyday-living gospel!
