Responding to the Pandemic

When Covid-19 turned the world upside down, God expected His people to step in to help those affected. Here in Camargo there were almost zero cases of the virus, but when schools, factories, and public places were shut down as a precaution, the result was an economic crisis. Families were suddenly left with no way to earn a living, and government social help sources were soon overwhelmed. Our little mission began to round up supplies, and God was faithful to multiply our limited resources in a supernatural way so we could bring food, clothing and other essentials to the neediest households.

Sadly, folks with greatest material comforts were least likely to donate. Help came instead from those in need themselves, who gave back what they could in gratitude. One elderly widower, responsible for 3 school-age grandkids, tearfully handed over 100 pesos (about five dollars, but a HUGE sum to him) when we brought a food bag, so we could serve others: “for the children with no one else to help.” God’s economics don’t make logical sense – instead of diminishing funds, it seems the more one gives, the more blessings are poured out!
